Digital TV: Social Housing Landlords

What | Why | How | When

The task facing the Social Housing market to bring into service digital compliant communal television systems is unparalleled with any other service requirement in recent times.

Digital UK is the not for profit organization leading the country through the conversion from analogue to digital, have produced guideline documents for landlords to obtain an understanding of their obligations towards their tenants. This document is available by emailing info@ultimate-comms.com

In short, the obligation is to provide digital services to all dwellings who make a service/maintenance contribution.

The traditional communal system is MATV, Mast Amplified TV system, this is made up of a single aerial receiving signal, and then being amplified ready for distribution throughout the building to numerous TV Wall Sockets. The evolution of digital TV allows signals to be delivered through alternative guises such as Satellite and Cable. An IRS, Integrated Reception System, combines a Satellite Dish(‘s) with FM & DAB radio with a TV Aerial, amplified for distribution throughout the building and has become the most common solution throughout the Social Housing market.
